The average age of those listed in the twelve obituaries in the November 18, 2014 Free Lance-Star was 70.75. The median was 79.5 with a sample standard deviation of 27.8. The ages ranged from 7 to 102.
This is the thirteenth day I’ve been collecting this data.
The mean of  obituary average ages using {77.375,64,74.143, 62.5, 55,66.8333, 74.11,71.27,68.82, 76.92,63,76.71,70.75} at Wolfram alpha is 69.34, up .11 from the previous computations.
Some words in the obituaries that caught my attention:
- Leadership is influence–nothing more and nothing less. If a person is able to influence another to take some course of action, they are a leader. As a follower, nothing makes it easier to follow a person than one who leads by example.
- Mack was the last surviving member of a generation of the Vayda (Vida, Vider) family
- Theadora enjoyed watching the Yankees and crocheting, and she saved cards.
- We were lucky to have had her.
