View Du Jour – April 5, 2006

Some simple pics of what’s going on in the front garden. Maybe this will be the beginning of a garden journal blog – a garjoug? a garjog?

maple leaves
The leaves on the red maple as they are just starting to unfold. We got this tree as a tiny stick from our good friend Genine Lentine.
pineaplesage leaves<
A pic of the emerging leaves of a pineapple sage plant. The plant is common enough, but it’s not so common for one to winter over here. We’ve been buying them and planting them for several years, but this is only the second time one has survived the winter outdoors.
daffodils
Finally, the great harbinger of spring – daffodils! Severl of our daffodils are finished by now, but this one, the variety long forgotten, is doing very nicely.

The tree is about 4 feet tall now, and we’ve had it since it was less than a foot high, just a stick from Genine. There’s another view of the tree in the entry of April 5, 2006. […]
