Although deemed “the loudest band in New York,” the pursuit of ear-blistering decibel levels is not deliberate, but the result of a devoted exploration of the possibilities of sound. Their noise comes from a passion for creating new sounds, not an empty excercise in amp-blasting.

While there are obvious rference points: Pornography-era Cure, early Ride, MBV, and pre 90’s Jesus & Mary Chain, the sound is all their own, in part due to singer/guitarist Oliver Ackermann’s day job of buolding custom guitar pedals (see deathbyaudio.net). Coupled with the solid bass of Jono Mofo nd the relentless drumming of Jay Space, the APTBS is a force to be reckoned with.
