Fredericksburg Songwriters' Showcase | Dulcie Taylor |
Dulcie Taylor is a Wammie award-winning singer/songwriter originally from South Carolina who has recently moved into the Washington DC area from Los Angeles. She is an accomplished musician, performing on the guitar, dulcimer and harmonica. As a writer, she has had five songs covered by other artists in commercial releases. Five of her songs won awards in this year's Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, and she was asked to perform at the awards ceremony. Dulcie has just completed recording a CD of her own material, entitled The Other Side of the Bed, which won a 2000 Wammie. The CD is an exciting collaboration of acoustic and jazz artists (including top-selling artists such as Atlantic Records' jazz pianist Brian Culbertson and saxophonist Steve Cole, and Verve Records' jazz and rock guitarist Jeff Golub). Prior to relocating to the east coast, she performed extensively in California, including opening for such diverse acts as Jerry Lee Lewis, Vern Gosdin, Bonnie Raitt, Eddie Raven and Asleep at the Wheel. Dulcie was recently added to the artist's roster for the Kennedy Center's Millennium stage. Outside of music, Dulcie has also been recognized as a writer of fiction and poetry, and was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Folger Shakespeare Library Poetry Series.
