Fredericksburg Songwriters' Showcase | Karen Jonas |
Karen Jonas has
been performing in the DC area since she first picked up a guitar
almost ten years ago. Currently a resident of downtown Fredericksburg,
Karen is an enthusiastic performer and active member of the local music
community. Writing songs that range from quiet personal pieces
about her struggles as a woman and mother to boot-stomping stories
about gun-wielding sheriffs, Karen's emotive quality carries her
message across any topic. Her rhythmic finger-style guitar drives
songs that are ripe and personal, bare and genuine, and always
painstakingly honest.
Karen's songwriting has been compared to Joni Mitchell, Regina Spektor,
and Gillian Welch. As co-front of The Parlor Soldiers, she shared
stages with notable acts Chris Knight, Spirit Family Reunion, and
Jeffrey Lewis, and has been featured on No Depression, Taproots Radio,
Ninebullets Radio, and many American and European blogs and radio
stations. Karen is excited to be leading her own band now, and
can be found playing in and out of Fredericksburg.
